“Bahrain’s excellent pro-business approach, superb local skilled manpower, cost-effective environment including a highly competitive taxation system, and the ease to market for our products remain convincing and unbeatable reasons for our group to operate from the BIIP.”

Mohammed Shalaby
Mondelez Plant Director
In 2018, Mondelez opened a second factory in Bahrain, investing a further $100m in a flagship “Factory of the Future” at the BIIP. Initial focus has been on making their world-famous Oreo cookies. The company has since added other keys products such as Barni cakes. This investment positions Bahrain as a key strategic location for the company, who now export to over 20 countries throughout the region and even as far away as Asia and Australia. Sitting on a site of 250,000 m2 of land reclaimed by the Bahraini government to accommodate this project, the future looks bright for Mondelez along with its key suppliers to grow from Bahrain.
